About Helen

For those who don't know me, my name is Helen Corbett and I'm an OFSTED Registered Childminder in Shinfield, Reading, Berkshire.

I'm 33 years old, have been married to John since 2001 and have 2 sons.  Aaron is aged 6 and Joshua is 1.

Before having my sons, I spent 10 years working in an office environment for a very busy Investment Company.  The last few years before leaving I lead a busy team of administrators in the Distributions department.  I also spent quite a bit of time working on a large project to change the administration database used by the company, this was a huge task.  As much as I enjoyed my work and the daily challenges, I really wanted to start a family as I'd wanted children for many years and I felt the time was right.

I took redundancy when my first maternity leave ended and became a full time mum at home.  I very much enjoyed this time with my son, Aaron, and having children over to play with him.  In fact I enjoyed it so much, I decided to register as a Child Minder!  Since the age of 13, I've adored looking after children and teaching them new skills.  Childminding is the perfect job for me as I get to spend a lot more time focusing on the development of the different children in my care and it's great for the boys to make new friends too!  

I have now been Childminding for over 4 years and thoroughly enjoy what I do!  I have been lucky to have children come to me from the age of 5 weeks old and I've watched them grow and develop into lovely little 'people'.  The children I look after are not only 'mindees'  but part of my 'extended family'!  I feel very privaliged to have the opportunity to work with a variety of different children with varying ages, all from different backgrounds.
